Pressure-sensitive labels and shrink sleeves both carry branding and product information, but they interact with the container and application process in different ways.
Pressure-Sensitive Labels
Labels can work well when the application area is defined and the container surface is suitable for the chosen adhesive. Size, shape, material, adhesive and roll direction must match the labelling process.
Shrink Sleeves
A shrink sleeve can cover a larger portion of a compatible container and follow more of its shape. Artwork distortion, material behaviour and the shrinking process must be considered during development.
Questions to Compare
- How much of the container needs printed coverage?
- What container material and shape will be used?
- What application equipment is available?
- What storage, moisture and temperature conditions apply?
- How will the finished package be handled and recycled in the destination market?
